Stack Magazine’s Andy Haley featured the Nikon COOLPIX S1100pj on the Stack Blog’s Thursday Tech Roundup. Haley wrote, “Both the camera and video recorder perform well. The Nikon COOLPIX S1100pj compact digital camera was the recipient of the iF Product Design Award, which is sponsored by the International Forum Design GmbH of Hanover, Germany. Features noted include the camera's increase of projection brightness by 40% over that of its predecessor, as well as the adoption of a 3-inch TFT LCD touch panel monitor for intuitive camera operation. In selecting recipients of the award, product aspects including quality of design, functionality, degree of innovation, simplicity of operation and environmental impact are considered.

The Nikon COOLPIX S1100pj compact digital camera has been awarded the red dot award: product design 2011 by Germany's Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. Features of the S1100pj that were highlighted include the increase in projector brightness over its predecessor, adoption of a 3-inch touch panel TFT LCD, as well as the convenience to business users of being able to project data when connected to a computer. The red dot award is presented to products released over the last two years that exhibit superiority in a total of nine aspects, including innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecology and durability. Over four thousand products were entered into the competition.
